How to Make Your Year Ahead a Productive One!
1. Ditch the processed foods
Good food is the essence of life. But we all have only one body so in a perfect world, we should feed it with lots of love and nutritious food, right? Processed and refined foods are sometimes tastier, but they are definitely not good for you. For the new year, don’t change up your entire diet but try giving up one or two of the not-so-good options and try replacing them with something better. White bread can be swapped out for brown bread, fruit infused water instead of a fizzy drink and maybe a half a teaspoon less sugar in your tea and coffee than usual. Small changes can make a big difference!
And remember that Spekko is always in your corner. In the health department, this means that our rice has been approved by the Heart and Stroke Foundation as part of a healthy diet. Three of our variants also carry the official Low GI rating, meaning that normal portions provide a slow release of energy, improve blood glucose control, and may keep you feeling satisfied for longer. The variants we’re talking about are our Long Grained Parboiled Rice, Saman Brown Rice and India Gate Basmati Rice.
2. Get more sleep
Few people appreciate how important it is to get a sufficient amount of sleep! There are those that are lucky enough to live productive lives on 5 or 6 hours of shut-eye a day, but the majority of us need a minimum of 8 hours. If you don’t, your productivity levels tend to plummet, your irritation levels go up and your general health declines. Did you know that weight management experts even recommend good sleeping hours to maintain a healthy weight?
3. Get out, see more, do more
Stress levels are at an all time high these days and often, people get so wrapped up in everything that needs to get done that they forget about the ‘now.’ Would you like to wake up a year from now and not have done anything interesting because you were so involved in your worries? Probably not. So make an effort at least once a week, to get out of the house or office and see something! Even if it’s just the park around the corner, or taking a walk down the road to the local shop instead of driving.
