Editors Battle it Out in Celebrity Cook-off
Its food editor against food editor on 13 June in a race for the Spekko Celebrity Chef Cook-off crown
Herman Lensing, flavour of the day chef, alias Sarie magazine food editor, will be donning the Spekko apron tomorrow when he takes on three other food writers on the Spekko Celebrity Cook-Off stage at The Palms in Woodstock.
Taking up the rice challenge against him are Megan Daniels, food editor of online food magazine www.hungup.co.za and Expresso TV show food stylist; Samantha Liederman who is a food writer for Kuier magazine; and Don Paul, lauded Cape Town journalist and publisher.
Herman, whose first cookbook Voorskoot sold out last year, will be publishing his 2nd – Voorskoot 2 – in the next month or so. He also stars in the theatre food show Lipstiek en Voorskoot with Marinda Engelbrecht.
The Palms Décor & Lifestyle Center is the destination for gourmands who want to stock up for the week ahead.
Fin addition to the freshly harvested vegetables, fruit and herbs are sold next to artisanal meat products and fantastical baking treats, a French style brocante market will be added to the “food spread” this Saturday. In their 3rd collective gathering in public, visitors will also be able to join the Woodstock Hookers in their craft. Not as bad as it sound – their choice of art is crocheting.
There is live music – Gerry Liberty – as well as free parking and the chance to hob nob with the who’s who in the culinary and literary world of Cape Town.
The cook-off starts at 10 am with the judging at 12 pm. Go along to have a taste – it’s on us.
The address is: The Palms Décor & Lifestyle Centre, 145 Sir Lowry Rd, Woodstock, (021) 462 0394. www.palms.co.za
