Seoul Snacks

This version of Soegogi Jumeokbap, a Seoul street snack, are fried savoury rice balls mixed with seasoned beef or pork. They are easy to make, visually appealing, and perfect for lunch or as a quick snack.

1⁄2 cup pork or beef mince
2 Tbsp sesame or canola oil
2 spring onions, very finely chopped
1 1⁄2 cups cooked Spekko Saman White Rice
2 Tbsp tomato paste
1⁄2 tsp chilli flakes
2 tsp soya sauce
3 Tbsp grated cheese
2 egg yolks

To serve
Sriracha mayonnaise

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of the sesame oil/canola oil in a pan. Add the mince and cook for a few minutes. Add the spring onion, cooked rice, tomato paste, chilli flakes and soya sauce.

  2. Using wet hands, form the mixture into bite sized patty-shapes.

  3. Heat the remaining oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry them for 2-3 minutes each side.

  4. Serve with sriracha mayonnaise and spring onion curls.
