Lamb mince and green pea curry
A flavourful mince curry that can be prepared in half an hour.
Ingredients
- 60 ml (4 tbsp) clarified butter
- 500 g lamb mince
- ¾ cup finely chopped onions
- 3 whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- ½ tsp ground ginger and garlic
- 2 green chillies, sliced
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 5 ml (1 tsp) garam masala
- ½ tsp chilli powder
- 5 ml (1 tsp) ground cumin
- 1 large tomato, skinned and grated
- 250 ml (1 cup) fresh peas
- salt to taste
- 5 ml (1 tsp) lemon juice
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) chopped fresh mint
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) chopped fresh coriander
- 4 cups cooked Spekko Long Grain Parboiled Rice
Method
- Heat the butter in a saucepan, add the cloves and cinnamon sticks and fry.
- Add the onions and fry until golden brown.
- Add the ginger and garlic with the minced lamb into the heated oil, stir until meat is slightly browned.
- Mix in the green chillies, turmeric powder, garam masala, chilli powder and ground cumin. Mix and simmer for a few seconds.
- Add the tomatoes, cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Add the fresh peas, continue to simmer for 8-10 minutes.
- Season with salt and lemon juice.
- Garnish with chopped mint and coriander and serve with Spekko Long Grain Parboiled Rice.
