Spekko fans knew her as the presenter and MC on Spekko’s now famous innovation – the Spekko Searle’s Trading “Tafelpraatjies” concept stand at the GF & WS in Cape Town in 2013.
On 21 June, this vibrant chef astounded patrons at The Palms in Woodstock where she beat cooking stalwarts such as Taste Magazine’s Abigail Donnelly; Huisgenoot and You Magazines’ Carmen Niehaus and finalist in Kokkedoor 2014, Johnny Hamman to take the first prize with her “Travel with rice” dishes
Adventurer, chef, food stylist and food writer Anna Carolina Alberts is passionate about real food, beautiful produce and people!
After finishing chef school and an internship at the acclaimed Le Quartier Francias under the watchful eye of Margot Janse and Chris Erasmus, she headed homewards to Pretoria where she owned a successful bistro for 2 years – in this time a love for blogging and food media blossomed and Caro packed her bags once again and headed for Cape Town.
And she hasn’t looked back since. Look for her name in many a popular recipe book and various magazines or at the next Good Food and Wine Show where she often finds herself guest chef and MC.
She is especially proud of her monthly story in the PnP Fresh Living- On a Shoestring. Recently she was the food and production manager for Makietie – the popular cooking and entertainment show on KykNET starring the 103 winners Myburg and Tiaan.
When she isn’t dreaming about her next adventure she can be found visiting her family on the farm – still her favourite place to be!
